Why Uncle Henrik?

We have been introduced to Uncle Henrik in the story now. Besides being Annemarie's uncle and Mrs. Johansen's brother, why is he being introduced into the story now? What does he have to offer the plot of our novel? Please share your thoughts.
Does the picture reveal some important information?

Mr.staley-

I think Unkle Henrick is being introduced now because now is a good time, because the family needed some good place to go. So now was a good time to introduce him. The picture gives us some info by showing us what Uncle Henrick dose...fishing.

I also think that Unkle Henrick may be introducen now because, he may be a very inportant person in the story(or is going to be). I also think that maybe Uncle Henrick maybe helping Ellen escape from the germen soldiers if they find her later in the story.

Mr.Staley, i think that he is being introduced now because he is going to play a roll in keeping Ellen safe because she is Jewish. Maybe, Uncle HEnrik is going to get caught trying to hide Ellen and they might have to go to a concentration camp. I think that he has to offer sopme adventure and excitement. Maybe with him in the story, things might be better

I have a question for everyone,

IF YOU WERE UNCLE HENRICK WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO KEEP ELLEN SAFE IF THE NAZIS FIND HER?

Mr. Staley, Uncle Henrick may have a special part in saving Ellen from the Nazis. The next chapter, which is called "There has been a Death", he might give crucial information. He might also even protect the whole entire Johansen family from death.

I think that Unkle Henrick is going to be the one killed in the next chapter, maybe because he is fishing falls of the boat and drowns, or maybe the nazi find them and find out that Uncle Henrick is helping Ellen escape!

AA2 I would try to keep Ellen safe and maybe try to get her out of the country to Sweden. Maybe since Uncle Henrik has a boat, he could hide Ellen and take her there. That could be a possibility.

aa2, if I were Uncle Henrick, I first make sure that the Nazis do not see her and get suspicious about her being a Jew. There will be no saving picture of Lise as a baby this time. If the Nazis do see her however, then i would cover for her about her being family because at that time, people would get suspicious if you had a dark-haired friend. And then if Little Kirsti spills the beans, we would now have to hide her.

Mr.Staley-

I need to ask you a question,

Who do you think is going to die?

If you already find out before you answer this question then, here is another one,

Do you think Ellen is going to get caught by the nazi, and why?

kp15-

I do not agree with you, I dont think that Uncle Henrick will take Ellen to Sweeden to be safe, I mean dont you think that Sweeden will be a safe place

Anonymous said...

kp15, you are correct that Uncle Henrick might take part in taking Ellen to Sweden, where it is safe.
aa2, i just do not think that Uncle Henrick will die in the next chapter. he seems WAY too healthy, and he is a fisherman after all.

HERE IS ANOTHER QUESTION:

Will anybody suspect him about keeping a Jew at his home?

I still dont agree with you, I mean it is possible that Henrick can die! I mean really it is possible! The nazi could find him and Ellen and see that he is helping Ellen escape! and kill him!!!! So I think Henrick will die!

Of course that dying is possible for anybody at any age , but i just do not think he will in the next chapter. He does not seem like that type of person. he is too brave! he might die in the time of the book, but not inthe next chapter-i think!

Henrick may be healthy and sure any body of any age can die, but....Henrick could die because of the nazi, how mant times do I have to tell you!

i just said that there is a possibility he might die in the next chapter because, after all he was keeping a Jew at his home. But, he may not die in the next chapter, ut in a different one. Anyway, pretty much everybody will die, except Zues or Hera, and all the other gods wh are immortal and have eternal youth.

rl10-
Well, that is possibly he may not die in the next chapter, but, I think that he may die in the next chapter because the next chapter is called, there has been a death. So I think he probly will die in this chapter.

I DONT THINK THAT EVERYONE WILL DIE I ONLY THINK THAT SOME....OF THE JEWS WILL DIE!

rl0 why do you want only jews to die? that is mean. i am not a jew but if i was, i would be insulted. don't be mean.-hc9

well, I have a guess that he doesnt really go fishing. the picture helps my thinking. He has MANY men on the boat! HA! This means he is getting people from somewhere! Then, I clicked on the pic. It Says in the caption ," `We stayed very low on the floor. We heard there were German patrols outside. We saw flashlights going through the windows,´ Wassermann recalled. Although the Gerda III was regularly boarded by German soldiers, the refugees were never discovered. The boat made more than a dozen trips with groups of five to 20 people crammed inside the hull - thus saving many Jewish families from annihilation.Leif Wassermann and his family were not able to return to their homeland until May 5, 1945, when Denmark was liberated. Years later he was appointed vice consul and commercial attache of the Danish government in New York.

HA! This means Henrik is important 2 intro b/c he saves Jewish people! HA!!!!! I love solving mysterys!

Ps. Sorry i got kinda carried away.

CHAPTER9 STUFF-

Guys-

In chapter the title is "Why Are You Lying" and I agree with CC4 about the soldiers figuring out about what is really true. Also, I think that maybe the title is talking about Uncle Henrik lying to them about "Great-Aunt Birte"dying.

Anonymous said...

CC4 if german soldiers are patroling do you think that ellen might be found.

Anonymous said...

Also if you click on the picture it says only one fifth get away and their going to sweeden. So i think that uncle Hirish is tking jews to sweeden because their bigger though when they go geman soldiers come and catch them and the 4/5 that don't make it could be ellen!!!!

By the way thanks for the info on clicking the picture. CC4

dz24,
I agree with you. The lie in the next chapter may be the fact that Uncle Henrik said that Great-Aunt Bertie had died and the family will have to be keeping her and the late Great-Aunt Bertie's casket with them while they are sleeping.
Also, the lie may also be about the fact that the adults always ask Uncle Henrik if the weather is good for fishing. Annemarie always had her suspicions about that question ever since it was asked. She had always known that Danish Fishermen fished in any weather. Rain or Shine.

aa2-
I told you that Uncle Henrik wouldn't die in the Chapter: "There has been a death."

I never said that I only wanted Jews to die. When did you get that idea?
